Evelyn Amoah Bryant is an experienced family law attorney with 16 years of experience representing individuals and families in divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, protective orders, and other domestic-violence-related family law matters.
Ms. Bryant has a proven track record of zealously advocating for New Orleans families, including clients facing high-conflict and domestic-violence related matters.
Born in Germany and raised in Ghana, West Africa, Ms. Bryant spent her teenage years and early adulthood in Austin, Texas, before establishing her legal career in New Orleans.
Ms. Bryant graduated from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2010 with her Juris Doctorate.
While in law school, Ms. Bryant completed a yearlong mediation clinic and spent summers clerking for a nonprofit organization litigating sexual assault and domestic violence cases in Louisiana.
She also completed years of domestic violence and sexual assault training, along with collaborative law training to provide further legal help to families.
Prior to joining our firm, Ms. Bryant served as the Domestic Violence Collaboratives Managing Attorney at Southeast Louisiana Legal Services (SLLS) where she managed and litigated a diverse caseload in Orleans Parish and in five other Louisiana parishes while also supervising and training 10 to 12 staff and contract attorneys, along with support staff, across multiple offices.
Her other legal responsibilities at SLLS included managing her own caseload and coordinating with community partners to strengthen services for families affected by domestic violence. She also held community engagement meetings and coordinated with partner organizations to help ensure the work was making an impact in the communities served.
As a result, Ms. Bryant has profound experience in Louisiana family law matters, including protective-order and domestic-violence matters throughout her 16-year career. She has primarily represented petitioners, while also handling a significant number of respondent-side matters in recent years, bringing an impressive record of success at the trial level.
In one recent contested custody matter, Ms. Bryant represented a father who had gone more than a year without seeing his two sons after they were taken from him and repeatedly relocated. She helped locate the children, secured a sole-custody judgment and civil warrant, and ultimately helped reunite the boys with their father.
By combining an extensive legal education with ample experience in helping Louisiana families, Ms. Bryant’s approach emphasizes honest advice, thorough preparation, and realistic expectations, while helping clients focus on the bigger picture, make decisions based on facts rather than emotion, and keeping children’s best interests at the forefront.
Clients appreciate Ms. Bryant’s honesty, hard work, and preparation. She believes in advocating firmly for clients while also telling them when fighting simply to be right would waste time and resources. Even when the answer is difficult to hear, she prefers to give clients a realistic assessment of the law, the likely court outcome, and the best path forward.
Outside of her legal practice, Ms. Bryant enjoys hiking, traveling, soccer, and spending time at the beach. She is also an avid animal lover and is proud to be a current member of the Carnival dance group Candy Girls.
Most important to Ms. Bryant are her children, siblings, friends, and family. With family spread throughout Europe and Ghana, traveling to see them each year brings her immense joy.
